History of LIF
The French International School of Jakarta was founded on the 5th December 1967 due to the initiative of some parents, the majority of whom were living in Jakarta as a result of the construction of the Jatihulur dam by a group of French companies. Originally the institution was called "petite école française de Jakarta", it then became "Cours Saint Exupery", then "Ecole Consulaire Française" on 25 May 1975, then later "Ecole Internationale Française EIF)" on 10 November 1982 and finally "Lycée International Français de Jakarta (LIF)". In 1975 a School Director was appointed by the French Ministry of National education.
LIF STATUTE
L.I.F. is a non-profit making organization under Indonesian law (YAYASAN, foundation
for educational purposes).
The institution is able to provide schooling from pre-school until the end of
High school for all nationalities.
Consequently parents of pupils have to agree to abide by Indonesian
laws and regulations. On an administrative level, L.I.F. reports to the "Agence pour
l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (A.E.F.E)" and is under the pedagogical
ruling of the Ministry of National Education. In October 2007, the school had 354
pupils of which 292 were French.
