 SAFETY INFORMATION

The school is under the surveillance of a team of security guards 24h/24.
During school hours, as well as from the moment the gates open to the moment they close, the team of security guards cooperates with the local police to facilitate the drop off of the children as well as the safe crossing of the street.
The security brigade for the foreign community is constantly present in front of the school. Parents are responsible for their children until they are within the “vie scolaire” area for those in Primary, Elementary and Secondary School and for the 3 to 5 year olds until they are within the playground of the Pre-School.

Car parking next to the school is not recommended, especially at the end of school hours and in particular on Fridays. This is not only for security reasons but also out of respect for our neighbours. Car pooling is encouraged where possible. It is best not to arrive at LIF before 12h45.

LIF external security is managed by 4 POLDA guards who have been designated to LIF (traffic control, parking and security). They wear beige and brown uniforms. Our own security guards (dressed in navy blue and white uniforms) and Mr Supito from POLSEK are responsible for the security on the inside of the building and the crossing of children between the two sites. Please respect their advice and show your badge when entering the building out of school hours.

Members of the school community who arrive by motorbike must get off of their bikes when entering the school premises and push their bikes to one of the two allotted parking areas for two wheelers.

LIF is a non smoking establishment. As part of our anti- smoking campaign it is requested that adults don’t smoke in front of the pre-school or main building in order to set a good example to our pupils.

Punctuality: the increasing number of pupils arriving late in the mornings is not always their own fault, however this is still not acceptable. In order to prevent rushes, extra “Vie Scolaire” office and administration work not to mention the interruption to lessons, we recommend that parents anticipate problems and work out better timings with their children. Drivers and pembantus must be aware of these issues.

Forgotten items; if a pupil forgets something either for class or sport it is requested that parents don’t deliver the items to the school in order to teach the child a lesson. From primary onwards pupils must learn to be organised and learn from their mistakes in order to prevent it from happening again. Thank you for taking this measure so your child can learn to be self-sufficient.

Badge: following a request from parents, a new badge is being studied for next year. Families requiring a second badge in its present formula may request this from the school office.

Pest Control: between January and March we have increased the frequency of our pest control visits. The external part of LIF is being treated on a weekly basis and during the holidays both inside and outside controls are carried out.

Telephone Chain: this allows a fast method of communication between the members of the school community during serious problems (e.g.: general flooding, sanitation measures etc...) The remainder of the time, communication is by email. A few families don’t have an email address; they are kept informed by other methods.

The chain is one of the best means of communicating between ourselves in a crisis situation. At the moment this situation does not apply. However, a security system is always advisable in order to be able to react efficiently in times of need.

For those families with several children at the school, the chains only concern the eldest child and are only distributed to the eldest child.

In order to be efficient, these chains must be correct, I therefore ask you to inform us of any error or omission which you may have noticed.

Parental security duties

If you are the first person on the chain, you become the duty parent responsible for security. We have placed a certain number of you in this position in an arbitery fashion. If you are unwilling to accept this responsibility please inform us immediately.

Electronic Mailing address: The school frequently sends out information by email to its pupil’s parents. All those who do not receive these messages should please inform the school at proviseur@lifdejakarta.org or advise the school office.

The functioning of the telephone chain depends on you:

Always keep a copy of the telephone chain on you and next to each telephone where the number is mentioned under your name.
When you receive a telephone call from the chain:
Mention the issue number of the latest telephone chain,
The name of the security parent to call back (parent at the head of the chain or their eventual replacement).
The message and instructions to be communicated.

As soon as you receive a call:
Contact your correspondents.
Try to personally join at least one of the parents.
Communicate all the information which you have received.
Be brief and to the point.
Whilst waiting to personally speak to a parent, if the letter M is at the side of a number called, leave a message to call the school urgently or the security parent (give their name).

If your correspondent is not there:
Even if you have left a message, contact those people on his behalf who he should have called.
Give the names of those families who have not been contacted, to the security parent on duty.

IMPORTANT Notice: If you are at the end of the telephone chain (the last person to be contacted), you must call the security parent on duty as soon as you have received all the information to ensure that the chain is complete.
